  10. At the IETF meeting at the University of Hawaii, we spent some time
  11. discussing whether to split the Interconnectivity Working Group into two
  12. parts:
  13.

  15.    o one group of limited duration that would work on the BGP protocol
  16.      and its usage and deployment, and
  17.    o another ongoing group more concerned with the operational aspects
  18.      of interconnectivity, especially with tuning the routing at major
  19.      connection points in the Internet.

  22. The result of these discussions is that IWG will split, and the protocol
  23. development half will retain the name Interconnectivity Working Group
  24. (and fall within the Routing Area of the IETF), while the other half
  25. will be called the Topology Engineering Working Group and fall within
  26. the Operations Area of the IETF. At the coming IETF at Florida State,
  27. IWG will meet all of Tuesday, and TEWG will take the slot originally
  28. allocated to IWG on Wednesday morning.
